The health of a human being is very crucial. Healthy people are generally speaking more productive, and a healthier nation of people is automatically a wealthier one. Meditation is one of the techniques that is slowly gaining momentum and acceptance around the world where it is being used by people to bring a better sense of health and balance into their lives.
Meditation causes various changes in the different parts of the brain, and these changes bring positive effects on the body tissues and organs. The sphere in the brain that enables one to reason and analyse issues usually pauses and rests when it is time for meditation. This, in turn, causes less adrenaline to be released into the blood, and all the organs become relaxed, and they naturally heal from the effects of too much adrenaline. Also, the right signals are sent to the organs. Therefore, the pancreas produces the right amount of insulin for the diabetic and the blood forms the right number of white blood cells for those who are leukemic and anemic.
The sphere that acts as a connection between the person and the environment also takes a break during meditation. The fact that you are not relating to your surroundings and to the issues that cause you pressure for those fifteen or thirty minutes of meditation causes a reduction in stress levels throughout the whole body. The effects do not only last for the time you are in meditation, but the effects are prolonged.
Generally speaking, the brain goes into the alpha state of waves during meditation. There are many other brain waves that the brain operates in throughout one’s lifetime, but the alpha state is the best. It is a state in which the brain coordinates the body organs to work positively, and it is a state in which healing happens quickly. Therefore, meditation is apt after you have undergone surgery or a certain therapy (like chemotherapy) which has caused damage to any cells or tissues.
Meditation also has indirect positive effects on health because it helps addicts of drugs and other substances to move away from the addiction gradually. When the addict does the right type of meditation, his or her mind can tune into a new sensory level and away from the addiction and to explore the possibility of being free. Therefore, the person is able to be free from the addiction and, subsequently, the adverse effects of the drugs.
Many individuals think of sitting on top of a mountaintop with legs folded and fingers poised when thinking about successful meditation. Meditation does not, however, have to be that extreme. As a matter of fact, meditation can be quite simple if you follow a few tried and true tips for successful meditation.
Set Aside an Allotted Time – When it comes to meditating successfully, make sure that you have an allotted time set aside each week for this purpose. If you choose to start meditating, it is best to begin with a once per week practice until you are more comfortable with the art of meditating.
Even if you have to put it in red pen on your calendar, put it on your calendar. Use your smart phone to schedule a reminder or even send yourself an email reminding you of your date with rest and relaxation. The rewards of being intentional about meditating are worth their weight in gold.
Let everyone in your household know that you will be taking on the practice of meditation and when, how, and where you will begin this process of transformation. Let everyone know that you are committed and disciplined to maintaining this goal and that your health and his or her happiness depend on it, as well. Let your family in on a little secret. Tell them that meditating will be good for you and create a happier more relaxed and healthier you. This will have a trickle-down effect on all of your family members and it is in their best interest to support you as you go on this newfound journey.
Find a soothing, relaxing, and out of the way area for your meditation practice. Set up the area with a few comforting photos, some scented candles, a comfy pillow, and a nice throw rug. Even if it is just a corner of your bedroom where you can go and lock yourself in and not be disturbed, it is very important to claim your private space for your meditation retreat.
Educate yourself on the art of meditation to that you will have a base knowledge before you begin. Get some educational materials to view, watch some videos online, and gather some reading material on the subject.
Arming yourself with knowledge before you begin will allow you to have a more peaceful and results oriented experience.
By educating yourself, setting aside a quiet location, letting your family know of your intentions, and securing a quiet spot to meditate in, you can float into a meditation experience that is successful and peaceful all rolled into one.
