Benefiting and Moving Forward Using the Power of Visualisation

22 March 2022

If you can see a goal you wish to achieve by envisioning it and believe it because you have supporting facts, you are more likely to achieve it. This is done through the process called ‘visualisation’. Visualisation requires you to want something and imagine that you are already there or doing it. While visualisation itself doesn’t automatically equal success, it is a tool that makes it one step easier to get there. It’s about seeing, feeling, and believing in what you want and can do to get the life you dreamed of.

A simple example of visualization at work is to imagine your life as if you had accomplished all your goals and are living your version of success already. What does it feel like? What exactly does it look like and require? Imagine as many details as you can. Think of it as the visual component of your business or life plan. The clearer and more obvious it is in detail, the easier it becomes to achieve it.

Visualisation is beneficial and empowers you because it:

·         Provides motivation, focus, and determination.

·         Reduces stress and anxiety.

·         Increases your confidence and self-esteem.

·         Improves creativity and innovation.

·         Empowers you to take charge and control of your life.

How to Take Advantage of the Visualisation Technique

Here are three easy steps to follow to take advantage of the power of visualisation and how it can have a considerable impact on your life:

Step One: Know What You Want

What provides feelings of happiness for you and gets you going each day? Where do you want to take your life, or what experiences do you want to have? Just think for a moment if you had no roadblocks, what would you do and why? If you don’t know what you want, it’s unlikely visualisation will be useful as the images you create won’t be consistent or conclusive, and they will be unclear.

Step Two: Break Down the Requirements

What tools, materials, or other requirements do you need to get what you want? Imagine the possible roadblocks or diversions that can appear along the way and have some solutions to them.

Step Three: Take Action and Get Moving

The power of visualisation only works if you take some action. Seeing it and believing it means nothing if you don’t create realistic and smart goals and actional steps to get there.  This is where a goals planner or having your plan put to paper matters.  Work backwards by breaking things down from a month-by-month plan into a weekly plan and then into a daily action plan.  Always have a deadline for yourself too and mark that date onto a calendar.  Even if you overshoot that deadline on the calendar, you are still on track to getting things accomplished.

As you can see, visualisation is another tool to plan and achieve your goals. Visualisation requires a deep understanding of your goals and the details it takes to get there. It motivates you by using images of your progress and outcome so that you take action every single day. By using visualisation on a daily and weekly basis, you are sure to be doing far better in achieving what you want compared to if you didn’t try using the technique of visualisation at all.
